Can the Digital Markets Act Secure Europe’s Digital Future?
Senior Industry Leaders Will Share Their Insights
The EU Commission’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) adopted in 2022 came into force earlier this year and aims to ensure contestable, fair and open digital markets. As the centrepiece of the European digital strategy it should signify a positive move for the European online economy. It is designed to level the playing field between tech giants and small businesses increasing competition, innovation, and consumer choice.
However despite the regulation many medium and smaller businesses are struggling to remain competitive in the ever-evolving online market. Beyond advocating for a robust enforcement of the DMA what can be done to improve competitiveness of the EU digital ecosystem?
The European Commission has already initiated proceedings against some large technology conglomerates. But is the DMA achieving its intended goals, and are the ongoing investigations leading to meaningful outcomes? Furthermore as competition for skilled labour intensifies globally, what alternative policies and incentives are required to retain talent in the European digital and e-commerce sectors?
The Financial Times, in partnership with PPF, is hosting this webinar for policy makers involved in the DMA and business and technology leaders in the e-commerce ecosystem.
